No Nukes
 Oil Burner--Gidgit Hanover--Overtrick
Born: April 24, 1979 in Westminster, New Jersey Died: May 9, 2005 Bred by: Ben Webster & William F. Brooks Trained by: Steve Demas Driven by: Glen Garnsey Owned by: No Nukes Stable of Sparta, New Jersey
No Nukes was from the first crop by the Most Happy Fella stallion Oil Burner p, 4, 1:54.2.
No Nukes was a sensational two-year-old, winning for trainer Steve Demas in a divison of the Goshen cup at The Meadowlands in a national season's record of 1:56.3 after being parked out the entire mile. He went on to win the $1.7 million Woodrow Wilson, despite making two breaks behind the starting gate prior to the start of the race. He was thus barred from the wagering but was allowed to race for the purse anyway. He broke at the start, caught the field at the quarter pole and then moved three wide at the half, moving up to third by the three-quarter marker. His effort cost him as he faded in the stretch to last, but he was impressive nevertheless. Alan Leavitt was so impressed by No Nuke's non-winner performance in the Wilson that he put together a $5 million syndication deal as the colt rested between his freshman and sophomore seasons.
As a three-year-old No Nukes was paired with driver Glen Garnsey and the result was six wins from 13 starts and $527,320 in earnings. He captured the Jersey Cup, the Meadowland's Pace elimination, the Oliver Wendell Holmes and the Adios Stake, among others. He wrapped up his racing career with a 1:52.1 Time Trial at Lexington's Red Mile.
No Nukes proved to be even more successful and influential as a sire. His first crop included Jate Lobell, p, 3, 1:51.2 ($2.2+million) and the filly Nadia Lobell p, 3, 1:53.4f ($1+million). No Nukes stood at Lana Lobell Farms in New Jersey and then was at trainer's Steve Demas Farm in the Garden State, before moving to Hanover Shoe Farm's New Jersey base in the fall of 1994. In 1988 his foals earned $15.2+ million and included Die Laughing, p, 3, 1:51.1 ($2.1+ million) and top pacer Silky Stallone, who was later imported to Great Britian to stand stud. He also produced Western Hanover, p, 3, 1:50.4 ($2.5+) who in turn produced Western Ideal and The Panderosa. Other top performers include: Immortality p, 3, 1:51 ($1.6+million); Jeremy's Gambit p, 3, Q1:51.1 ($1.1+million); Lotta Soul p, 5, 1:50.2 ($1+million); Dexter Nukes p, 3, 1:51.3 ($1+million); and Nadia Lobell p, 3, 1:53.4 ($1+million).
No Nukes retired from stud duty after the 2003 breeding season and to date is the sire of 495 in 1:55 and the winners of over $123.7 million in earnings. To date he has 316 winners who have earned over $100,000 lifetime. It goes without saying that his impact upon the sport's pacing bloodlines is unquestionably great.
No Nukes was humanely destroyed on May 9, 2005 after a short illness.
